Des Evans is an expert CEO advisor on service innovation, business transformation and the challenges of achieving growth through new service based business models.
As Sales Director and later CEO of MAN Truck and Bus UK until 2014, Des led the transformation of the company’s business model and helped it to become one of the leading providers of advanced after sales services and fleet management solutions. As a result, the business grew from £50 million to £500 million over a 10-year period and has become the subject of numerous academic case studies. The MAN fleet management portfolio now consists of over 10,000 vehicles travelling 1 billion km per annum, providing real time data of customer use and experience as well as the ability to identify not only component life costs but also service competence amongst the franchised network partners. While at MAN, Des also oversaw the the delivery of more than 7,000 trucks for the British armed forces – the biggest single truck order placed in Europe in the past 25 years. In July 2014 he was awarded the Motor Transport Service to Industry Award and was named as “probably the single most knowledgeable and accessible CEO or MD in the UK truck industry”.
Des Evans was appointed Honorary Professor at Aston Business School in October 2014 and is involved in the development of the Aston Centre for Servitisation Research and Practice. He was awarded an OBE for services to the motor industry in 2016.
